I'm not sure when we took this picture, but we went to 2A, a bar across from our old apartment on Avenue A. When we looked out the window, they were projecting Alice in Wonderland on the side of a building. Gotta love the East Village.

Easter Weekend

We spent Easter weekend in New Jersey.

Friday night we went for dinner at Kissui Sushi in Little Silver. We discovered this sushi place a couple of years ago as the original owner was getting ready to retire. We hadn't been back since he sold it and we were pleasantly surprised. The sushi was fresh and tasty.

Saturday night we went for Easter dinner at San Remo Italiana in Red Bank. We had a delicious chicken with artichoke, prosciutto, lemon/caper/sage sauce. It was so good that Rob and I were supposed to share it, and I ate it all. He had to settle for the shrimp and scallop garlic scampi.

I came home from Miami and decided that I wanted to redecorate the bathroom. I bought paint and re-painted the bathroom Urban Concrete Gray. Once it dried, I realized that the shower curtain and towels we had matched the new paint.

Spring Break in Miami

My parents were babysitting my niece and nephew for ten days, so I decided to go down to help them. I hung out with my sisters, parents, niece and nephew.

I had my fair share of Cuban pastelitos and coffee,

manatees,

a sick nephew,

and a wild niece.

Kid Quote 16 - April 10, 2011

We are learning about how we can take care of our Earth's natural resources. So we are teaching to kids to Reuse, Reduce and Recycle. After talking, sharing and discussing how we can reduce the way we waste natural resources, Jayla raises her hand.

Jayla: Mrs. K, I reduced something.

Me: What?

Jayla: Well I used to have a big backpack and now I have a small backpack, so I reduced the size of my backpack.

Weekend in NY (April 8)

My favorite types of weekends, are the weekends when we have nothing to do.

On Friday night we checked out Coppelia, a new Cuban restaurant in Chelsea. For a couple of hours, I felt like I was in Miami. The food was good, solid Cuban food. My only complaint was that my cortadito didn't have sugar. When I asked our waiter about it, he said they were making it with sugar and people complained that it was too sweet. Hello, cortadito's are supposed to be sweet, try telling the ladies at La Carreta in Miami that you don't want sugar in your cortadito.

After dinner we decided to go for a walk and a drink. We found a really cool bar on 17th Street, but there was an hour wait, so we kept walking. We then went to Rye House, which was okay. After one drink, we decided to go to The Flatiron Lounge. What a cool old-school cocktail kind of place. I finished the night with an Old Cuban and that's a drink, not an old Cuban viejo.

On Saturday, we did some Spring cleaning. We cleaned the office and we took pictures of Rob's old kites to sell on e-bay. We also took 6 bags of old clothing to The Salvation Army. I lost 180 pounds and no, I didn't get rid of Rob.

For dinner we went to Diner, because I had won a gift certificate at our work Holiday Party. We decided to ride our bikes. The 3 feet of snow that my bike was under for most of winter, really rusted it up. I need to take it to get fixed. Diner had a wait, so we went next door to have a drink at Marlow and Sons. I had the best, best Bloody Mary ever. I am still thinking about it. I want another one NOW!

Sunday was a lazy day, we rode our bikes around Greenpoint and Williamsburg. We finished our bike ride at Habitat, where I had another Bloody Mary. It was not as good as the one from Marlow and Sons. For dinner, we had corned beef short ribs at our friend's house. Ummm....yeah...they were great!

The only plus to getting up at 5:30am, is that I get to see the sunrise.

Last year we went to Brooklyn Botanic Garden to see the Cherry Blossoms, so we thought it would be fun to take the kids again this year. Due to the brutal winter, they still haven't bloomed. We were disappointed, but we had fun walking around the park.

Weekend in NY (April 1)

We had a very relaxing weekend.

On Friday, we had friends over for dinner and Rob made his awesome burgers.

On Saturday afternoon, Rob and I met up at the Union Square Farmers Market in the hopes that they would have some Spring veggies- they didn't, but they did have flowers. We then walked over to Eataly, had a glass of wine and bought yummy stuff for dinner.

For dinner we had:
Endive with bacon and lemon vinaigrette
4 cheese Agnolotti with morel mushrooms, cheese sausage, ricotta and peas
