The Beard - May 26, 2011

Robs Beard adventure continues. I'm hoping he gets over his mid-life crisis soon.

He's becoming more cultured.

So close, yet so far away.
I'm only a train ride away.

Wait, maybe I was his beard.

The Beard - May 25, 2011

I came home a few weeks ago and Robs Beard was gone. Apparently, the beard wasn't happy and he set off in search of new adventures. I hope he finds his way and returns safely to me. I will be waiting.

Pink is definitely his color.

gets hungry.

He had the original design for the hat,
Beatrice stole his idea.

This is what happens when you tell a six year old to check their work.

I finished phase 2 of my garden and I thought I was finished, but I'm not. I babysat my friends seedlings and she gave me a tomato, radish, beet and sage plant. I'll be adding more to my garden this coming weekend.

Weekend in NY (May 14, 2011)

The hubbs was in San Fran for the weekend, so I spent the weekend working on my garden.

This is so weird. I cut the bottoms off of some fresh tulips and a few days later I noticed that the bottoms of the stems had curled up.

La Suegra comes to NY (May 6, 2011)

My M-I-L, was supposed to come to NY for Mothers Day Weekend. On Saturday morning, she changed her mind and decided that she wasn't going to come. So Rob and I took the train into
the city to go to the Union Square Farmers Market. We found some really funny shaped potatoes for dinner. While we were walking around Central Village/NYU, she called and said that she was in fact coming. We stopped for a quick bite at Le Pain Quotidien and headed back to Brooklyn to get our car.

We picked her up at Penn Station, brought her and her 21 year old dog back to Greenpoint. We then went to Le Gamin for lunch. We had never been there, but the food was great. The French Onion Soup was one of the cheesiest, oniony and bready soups that I've ever eaten (this means it was really, really yummy) I think we would eat here more if they weren't cash only. We then showed her around our neighborhood.

For dinner, Rob's friend, Talo, came over. Rob cooked Corned Beef Short Ribs, that our friend Anthony had corned a few weeks ago. We also had boiled potatoes, cabage and a salad. Talo is an expert paper folder (origamier- is this a word?). After dinner, he folded paper for us.

On Sunday, we went to Anella for Mother's Day Brunch. They have an amazing burger that is only served for brunch. Another annoying cash restaurant in our neighborhood, that we don't eat at often because we never carry cash. We then went to Williamsburg for a Sunday afternoon stroll.

So I'm walking Coco down Green Street, when I see a man and his son doing body work on this car on the side of the street. The trunk of his car is open and there are a bunch of spray paint cans in a box. The man is spreading some sort of caulk on the dings on the side of the car. He yells out to his son" get me the red spray can." Just then the owner of the car comes out of his apartment and starts screaming at the guy "What the F*** are you doing? That looks like shit. Oh my God, you are using spray paint on my car!"

At this point I was just standing there staring..... I then realized that maybe I should walk away and I did.

The hubbs was rear ended by a livery cab, while coming back from kite boarding. We found a great body shop, Gabriel's Collision Center, around the corner from our house. They were fast, reliable and professional.

Weekend in NY (April 29, 2011)

I love weekends at home, especially sunny and warm weekends.

Friday we went for drinks with Rob's co-workers at Rudy's in Hell's Kitchen. Does it get any better than $7.00 Rudy's Blonde Pitcher and free hot dogs?

On Saturday we hosted a wine tasting at our house.
We tasted Argentinian Malbecs. They were very
approachable and they have good balance of fruit,
alcohol and tannins. I really liked them.

We were on break during Earth Day, so we had a school wide celebration when we got back.
