Weekend in NY (7/29/11)

I don't think anyone ate better than us this weekend. First of all my tomato plants are producing so many tomatoes, that I don't know what to do with them. Secondly, we split a salmon from, a fish distributor in Greenpoint, with Anthony. There were some good eats going on!

Some of our neighbors have been using the hallway as storage space. Not only does it make the building look cluttered, it's a fire hazard. Someone got fed up and left this note on one of the bikes.

They have since been removed!

These are some yummy treats that we made with tomatoes and peppers from our roof garden. I also made a great tomato sauce, but I forgot to take a picture of it.

From my sister Jessica:
I think Grace may just have a little bit of attitude. Today I put on a new pair of shoes. She started jumping around and one fell off and she tripped over it. She looked at the shoe and in a super deep voice yelled zapato no, then she hit the shoe and as a grand finale she picked up the shoe and threw it. Wow, am I in for it.

Heatwave Weekend- (7/22/2011)

This has to be the hottest weather I have ever experienced.

We went to the Oyster Bar in Grand Central, thinking that oysters would be refreshing on a warm day. Wrong. They don't shuck them to order, so they were sitting on a tray of ice already shucked. They were warm and shriveled. Yuck!

We couldn't take the heat, so we went to Sandy Hook in New Jersey to cool off.

I am so excited about my indoor garden. My mom and sister have given me several plants from their gardens in Miami, that are all understory/shade plants. I also found an amazing plant nursery in Miami, Galloway Farm Nursery, that has a huge assortment of air plants, orchids and bromeliads.

I went to into the city to buy some pots in the flower district for all of the plants that I brought back from Miami. I bought 7 pots, rocks and a piece of wood, when I decided to walk over to Eataly. I was dying to eat some home cooked food, because we ate out almost every night while I was in Miami. While in Eataly, I saw a truffle mushroom for the first time. I was so excited, that I bought one. This mushroom was not sold by the pound, but by the ounce.

This little guy cost $17.10.

Dear MTA,

I know why the G train's service is disrupted every weekend. There's only one freaking guy working on the tracks. I mean at this rate, he might me done cementing by next year.

Weekend in NY (July 9, 2011)

This weekend was a perfect summer weekend. We didn't do much, but it was perfect!

Garden treats!

Acton, Masachusettes

I was piloting a professional development for our organization, so I got to spend the week in Acton, MA.

I did learn some great things, that I plan to implement when we go back to work.

Weekend of July 2, 2011 (My birthday and July 4th)

A beautiful butterfly came to visit my new succulent (birthday gift) planters.

We spent the 4th at the Beer Store for a BBQ, but I was picket up early because I had to go to MA for a professional development workshop. We saw fireworks in CT, on the way to MA.
