The hubbs is in Brazil, so I took Coco for a 6 am walk before work in the torrential rain. Of course she didn't pee or poop. I call Unleashed and ask them to walk her because I wasn't going to get home until 5ish. New dog walker comes over and breaks the key in the door. Kind of annoyed. Poor dog didn't go out until about 1:00 in the afternoon.

(This is her looking into Unleashed)

Kid Quote 4 – September 29, 2010

Art Teacher: Some of the boys were talking and laughing in line.

I look up and the down the line to see the guilty faces of the naughty children,
when Jacob says: I couldn't stop farting

Kyle whispers: Yeah, but he laughed every time he farted

Me: Jacob, keep your farts to yourself!

Kid Quote 3 – September 27, 2010

Jacob read one of our phonics words, 'picks', and started laughing.

Me: Tell me a sentence with the word picks.
Jacob: My mom picks books and strawberries (he keeps laughing).
Me: Go on
Jacob: She picks her nose.

What happens at home, doesn't stay at home!

A couple of months ago, we went to Fatty Cue for dinner. There was a wait, so we were getting ready to leave, our waiter gave us 2 complimentary drink cards.

We have a very yummy stone julep, which is a mint julep with apricot juice. Mmmmmmm.

We went then walked over to Traif for dinner. I was so overwhelmed by the deliciousness of the food, that I forgot to take pictures. We had sweetbreads, duck confit, tuna tartar, short rib sliders and crab meat on eggplant.

Coco is going to go to college (and that's not a good thing), she has destroyed every piece of furniture in our house. I am annoyed!

Marcus, my 2 year old nephew, was being naughty and out of desperation, my sister looks up at the ceiling and says "Santa, Marcus is being a bad boy"

Without skipping a beat, Marcus looks up at the ceiling and says "I'm just going to turn Santa off."

A couple of hours later during dinner, he looks up at the ceiling and says "Santa, I want a skateboard, a helmet and a buzz watch. He then realized that poor Grace was going to be left out, so he added, "and a princess watch for Grace (she is only 10 months old)."

By the way, he's drinking Cuban coffee in this pic.

My in-laws live about an hour from the city in NJ, so we visit often. They are about 10 minutes from beach and one of the best dog parks that I have ever seen.

Island Surf and Sail, our SUP and kite shop down in LBI.

Paddling my new Paddle Surf Hawaii at Barnegat Bay in LBI. We tried to paddle to the lighthouse, but it was further away than we thought.

Brooklyn Tornado

As I was getting ready to leave work, I looked out the window and noticed that the sky had turned black. I decided to wait out the storm. Suddenly one of my windows flew open. I ran and closed the window, as I was closing it, I heard a commotion in the hallway. I ran to the hallway and saw things flying out of a classroom. I ran into the classroom and I was shocked at what I saw. The wind had pushed the windows open and there was about 3 inches of water in the room, everything was soaked. I would push the windows closed and the wind would open them again. Then suddenly, it ended, I was able to close the windows. We walked down the hall and assessed the damage, there were 7 classrooms that were flooded. The hood was in worse shape.

Good Morning Brooklyn!

Kid Quote 2 – September 14, 2010

At the end of the day, Andy looked at me with sad eyes and said "This is the saddest part of the day for me."
I said "Why are you feeling sad?"
He said "I'm sad because it's time to go home and I'm going to miss learning in school."

A+ for Andy

I always wear my chanks when we are on road trips, but I have a very strange habit. As I am getting into the car, I kick my chanks off and leave them outside of the car. About 2 hours later, I realize that I don't have my shoes and of course we can't go back and get them.

Case in point, Stack 'Em High in Kill Devil Hills, now has a lovely pair of Haviana chanks in the parking lot.

OBX (Outerbanks, North Carolina)

We had a four day weekend, so we decided to drive down to OBX after work on Wednesday. It was such a long, dark drive, but we made it just in time for sunrise on Thursday. This was the only sunrise that we saw.

We stayed at the Avon Cottages. It has a kitchen, it's small, cheesy, cheap and they take dogs. It really doesn't get any better than that.

SUPing

Kiting
That's Rob jumping.

Swimming and Tanning

Eating

Mack Daddy's- Shrimp and grits (one of the best things I've ever eaten), cool bartender, decent beer selection
Buxton Munchies - local favorite, weird hippie restaurant with a Sponge Bob theme, fish tacos
Mad Crabber - 10¢ shrimp
Diamond Shoals- huge fresh fish selection, nice waiters, cheesy salad bar, hush puppies instead of bread
Stack 'em High - grits (I know pancakes should be first because of the name--but I love grits), pancakes, biscuits, 80 something year old owner still greats guests,
Good Winds- Sunset view, not the best drink selection, crab cakes were okay

Sunset Watching

Playing a food trivia game and coming in 2nd.

The never packed lightly car.

Sad, but true!

Catskills, NY

Our friends invited us to their farm on the Catskills for the long weekend.

No, this isn't a pig, it's Coco's snout filling with air as she was smelling the country air.

Hiking
We went for a hike in Lordville, NY
We saw some great inedible mushrooms.

The trail was beautiful.

We finally found oyster mushrooms.
